No. 167: Last Minute Halloween Costumes

Posted by on Oct 24, 2011 in Holidays | 0 comments

I know. I know. You have all week to come up with a Halloween costume for that party you were invited to.

But if you’re anything like me, you’ll realize at, oh, 4 pm. on Saturday that you still didn’t choose/buy/make a costume. And you’re headed for a shindig in just a few hours.

Still, you want something fun and/or clever. I mean a ghost sheet costume might get you a few laughs, but we think you can do better.

Luckily, this cootie catcher is here to save the day.

No. 165: Is Your House Haunted?

Posted by on Oct 19, 2011 in Holidays | 0 comments

It’s almost Halloween, and we’re pretty sure that’s when all the ghosts and other scary things come out to play. More than usual at any rate.

So it’s time to answer a question you may have asked late at night after watching a scary movie: Is my house haunted?

The whole prospect is sort of terrifying. Especially if it’s 1 a.m., you’re all alone and you hear a really weird noise. Then your cat freaks out and acts like there’s the ghost of a serial killer in the house.

It’s time you know the truth. This cootie catcher can help. And look on the bright side: If your house is haunted, you can start charging admission.

No. 163: Halloween Cootie Catcher for Kids (Medium Scary)

Posted by on Oct 13, 2011 in Holidays, Kids | 0 comments

It’s almost Halloween! One of my favorite holidays of the year. Costumes. Candy. Scary decorations. What’s not to love?

I’m making a whole series of Halloween cootie catchers, but this first one is for the kids. These are great for a party or to kick off a night of trick or treating. Just print them out and let the kids fold and share.

If you’re really ambitious, start with blank pieces of paper and let the kids write fortunes of their own. This one could be a great example.

A word to the wise: I’ve labeled this medium scary. It talks about ghosts, witches, spiders and eyeballs.

No. 149: Labor Day BBQ Fortunes

Posted by on Aug 31, 2011 in Holidays | 0 comments

So it’s almost Labor Day weekend. The last hurrah of summer!

And I don’t know about your neck of the woods, but no one around here actually seems to be at the office. A fact that makes it difficult for some of us to concentrate on work. So what’s a girl to do? Make a cootie catcher for her barbecue this weekend, of course.

I plan to spend Sunday feasting on hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, watermelon, sangria and ice cream sandwiches. And amusing my friends with these fortunes. Then I’ll have Monday to recover.

How about you? Happy (almost) Labor Day from The Daily Cootie Catcher!

No. 123: Happy Fourth of July!

Posted by on Jul 4, 2011 in Holidays | 2 comments

Happy fourth everyone!

Hopefully, you’re all stocked up with sparklers (my favorite!) and some tasty things to throw on the grill. This cootie catcher is just one more thing to help you celebrate.

We didn’t score any fireworks this year, but we’re working on the grilling part right now. It’s sunny and beautiful and not too hot outside. Hope you’re having good weather, too!

Just download this PDF, print, fold and enjoy some fortunes while you wait for the fireworks show to start.

No. 113: The Father’s Day Edition

Posted by on Jun 16, 2011 in Holidays, Special Occasions | 0 comments

Did you remember it’s Father’s Day on Sunday?

Luckily, I thought ahead this year, and my gift is already winding its way toward my dad, who lives several states away, via UPS. In addition to the gift, I’m always scrambling for a Father’s Day card.

There are some good ones at the store, but many of them are cheesy and stereotypical, too. This paper fortune teller takes the place of a card and doesn’t take itself too seriously. It also makes great entertainment at a Father’s Day barbecue.
