No. 139: From Your Secret Admirer

Posted by on Jul 27, 2011 in Love | 0 comments

Having a crush is like being super happy while a terrible nagging, self-doubting voice shouts at you from inside your head.

You like someone, but does she or he like you back? Wait, did he accidentally brush your hand at happy hour? Or was that a secret signal that he likes you, too?

It’s a whole exercising in over-thinking for those of us who aren’t always brave enough to walk up to someone and ask him or her out.

But there’s another way. Test the waters out with this “From Your Secret Admirer” paper fortune teller. It doesn’t reveal your identity, but it does alert your crush to the situation. And maybe it will make you brave enough to make a move.

Download this PDF, print, fold and wow your crush. Leave this on his or her desk, doorstep … use your imagination.

No. 115: Fling or Relationship Material?

Posted by on Jun 17, 2011 in Love | 0 comments

Can I tell you? In my 20s, I spent a lot of time having relationships with people who were really just fling material.

I wasn’t very good at the “let’s just have fun for a few weeks” thing. But that probably would have been a much better approach than dragging on for months and months with someone who wasn’t even remotely appropriate for me.

You know what I didn’t have? This amazing paper fortune teller. It can tell you if your current guy or gal is a fun summer fling or real relationship material.

Don’t let the suspense build too long.

No. 101: Breaking Up by Cootie Catcher

Posted by on Jun 2, 2011 in Love, Problems | 0 comments

Apparently, it’s technical issue week here on The Daily Cootie Catcher. My Internet at home went out last night when I was about to put this up. But that just means this is a two cootie catcher Thursday. Hooray!

After so many wedding related paper fortune tellers, I thought it was time to go to the dark side: break-ups. There’s already a break-up survival guide cootie catcher here. But how about one to do the breaking up for you?

I know folks who’ve stayed in relationships for MONTHS because they dreaded having the big talk. Or who just hoped if they were less attentive the other person would break up with them.

Now you can take the middle ground: Simply ask the person you want to dump to use this fortune teller. The message should come across loud and clear.

Download this PDF, print, fold and dump your unwanted boyfriend or girlfriend.

No. 100: Wedding Save the Date Template

Posted by on May 31, 2011 in Love, Special Occasions | 0 comments

OK, there’s good news and bad news.

The good news: I made it to post 100 in my year-long daily creative project. Hooray!

The bad news: I made this one a template, so you could download the Photoshop file and personalize this Save the Date–in the form of a paper fortune teller!–with details about your wedding (bride and groom names,  wedding date, city, wedding colors, etc.).

Unfortunately, I’ve managed to exceed my tech skills here and can’t upload the PSD file. So I’m working on that. In the meantime, here’s the PDF, so you can see it.

If you’d like the template before I fix the bug, drop me a line (michelle at michelletaute.com), and I’ll email it to you.

Check out this PDF. You can mail flat and let your guests fold it up. Wouldn’t you be excited to go to a wedding after getting this in the mail?

No. 99: Wedding Cootie Catcher #3 (Bride and Groom Trivia)

Posted by on May 30, 2011 in Love, Special Occasions | 2 comments

It’s still wedding week here on The Daily Cootie Catcher.

Some wedding traditions are a little cheesy. (I’m not a big fan of the bouquet toss.) But it can be fun to have a few little things to help guests get into a celebratory mood.

These bride and groom trivia fortune tellers are full of questions about the happy couple. Put one on each table as a way to start conversation between guests. Or make it a friendly competition among tables with a prize toward the end of the night.

You can make answer keys and hide them under the centerpieces or share the answers with everyone over the microphone. It’s all up to you.

Download this PDF, print, fold and see who knows your story best. A special prize to the first person who knows the correct answers to all these questions about Tom and I. (Email me or leave your answers in the comments.)
